Still hugging your old mattress? Change mattress change life

Despite spending a third of our lives sleeping, many of us haven’t adequately prepared in the bedroom — when it comes to mattresses. In a 2011 poll, the National Sleep Foundation found that 92 percent of people say a comfortable mattress is important to a good night’s sleep.

But the wrong mattress — or the mattress that’s simply too old — can be the cause of more than that crick in your neck or your low back pain.

Many people feel their 20 year old mattress is just “perfectly fine” and there is no need to replace it. That is until they sleep at a friend or family member’s house, or a luxury hotel and realize what they’ve been missing.

Sometimes people don’t realize that their old mattress is truly “broken” so to speak, and really does need replacing. Like anything else, ageing is inevitable.

Chances are the things that worked for you 20 years ago don’t suit the new you! Your body needs proper support while you sleep, and that support has likely changed over the last 20 years as well. As we change – so should our mattress!

Various studies have concluded that the sleep surface can contribute to discomfort and that sleeping on certain sleep surfaces may be more beneficial than others. The study indicated that people sleep quality improved significantly with the replacement of the old sleeping surface.

Old mattress can lead to poor sleep quality and can contribute to an increase in perceived stress. Both mental and physical processes decline with inadequate sleep. Poor sleep quality is associated with anxiety, depression, and mood disorders. Conversely, adequate sleep improves attitudes, moods, and promotes feelings of self-esteem and competence. In addition, sufficient sleep improves mood, promote feelings of competence and self-worth, and supports optimal mental and emotional function.

The comfort and support of the new mattress affects the quality of sleep and can help you in getting whole new sleeping experience.

In a small 2009 study, 59 healthy men and women slept for 28 consecutive nights on their regular mattresses, then another 28 nights on new, medium-firm mattresses. They were asked to evaluate their stress levels based on factors like worrying, racing thoughts, nervousness, irritability, headaches, trembling and more. The new beds resulted in “a significant decrease in stress,” according to the study, possibly because of the related increase in sleep quality and decrease in pain associated with the firmer setup.

Still faithful to your old mattress? Here’s the gift it has in store for you :-

Mattress plays an important role in helping you fall and stay asleep. Old mattress hampers your sleep and has negative effects on your health. It gives you :-

1.Drowsiness – Low quality sleep will usually leave you feeling tired and drowsy. This has effect on alertness and you feel unnaturally tired during the day.

2.Back Pain -Low quality mattress can often force you to sleep in an unnatural position that twists and strains your back.                     3.Obesity – People that don’t get enough sleep, or often wake up during the night, have a higher risk of becoming obese than their peers. This is because the drowsiness and lack of energy caused by sleep deprivation can often lead to overeating.
4.Dust mites – Older mattresses have a particularly high chance of being a haven for dust mites that can lead to a number of skin and respiratory conditions such as eczema, asthma and sore throat.

5.Heart conditions – If your mattress prevents you from getting eight hours of quality sleep per night, it could have a negative effect on your cardiac health. According to a European Heart Journal review, short sleepers have a 48% higher risk of developing heart disease.

6.Memory– Sleep plays a fundamental role in creating memories. When you’re sleep deprived, you won’t just fail to recall memories –you’re also less likely to form memories in order to remember the events that happen to you at that time.

If you are experiencing all these negative effects then getting new mattress is need of the hour.
